Had a trip planned to Bonaire but seems like all US flights incl ours got canceled for now. Now thinking about rebooking for Aruba end of April/beginning of May. Wonder if it's worth bringing foils besides TT. Does anyone know about the conditions for foiling down there? We'll probably stay close to Boca Grandi. Do I need a short mast there or can I go with 90cm? How about Fishermans Hut? Is the water depth sufficient for a long mast?
Any other tips are more than welcome.
Thanks

It's been a few years, but fisherman's huts is flat, 4-6 foot deep water with offshore wind. You might want to talk to one of the schools for some boat support. There is a wind shadow right on the beach, but it cleans up out 100 yards or so. I don't have any info on Boca Grandi.

Arnold is the guy to talk to. He owns Kite Inn near Boca Grande, is a great guy and expert foiler. He foils Boca Grande all the time.

Ditto, but it looked tricky. Boca Grande, may be depending on the crowds, it's not a huge bay (the main bay). Down the shore there's spots with breaks in the reef I'm just not sure exactly where and if it's deep enough for a foil on the inside.

Fisherman’s Hut might be the gustiest “popular” spot ever. Boca Grandi is awesome wind wise, but rough chop for TT. Should be great for foil. Small area, but fun. Not sure you can exit the bay, probably too shallow for the foil. Only did TT there myself.

Arnold is your best source for information on Aruba
kite-inn@hotmail.com
The only month with fluky wind is November.
Boca Grande (SE part of Aruba is the best spot) 25 min drive from Fisherman's Huts
Fisherman's Huts (NW corner of Aruba - offshore wind, use to be good but "They paved Paradise and put up High Rise Hotels" = wind shadow)
Where to stay? If you are with a Large group of non-kiters then stay by Fisherman's Huts. If you are there mainly to Kite then stay at Kite Inn (5 min drive to BG)..
Arnold runs Kite-Inn and can also get car rentals, etc. He has all the connections on the island.
