did riders already qualify for Olympia?
Or is this still to come?
Really curious to see the teams of each country.
PS: pls don't rant against Olympia in this topic. A friend of mine has been to Olympia and he says it is the best event he has ever been to.
So, don't be negative about it, let's just hope the games will happen this year!

The Olympics is three years away, nobody has qualified yet. I don't even think there's a calendar for the qualifying kite events yet. The athletes hoping to qualify are only starting their campaigns about now. Expect the final decisions to be made in 2023.

No, Paris 2024 will be the first Olympic kite medal and there are even rumors for a possible second medal.
So still a few years of training to go

All my support to Gisela Pulido from Spain! She is training hard during these years since she left the freestyle discipline at competition levels to focus on Olympics games.

So, is the format for the Olympics decided? Racing, freestyle, big air?
Edit. Simple search shows it is hydrofoil racing.

I would guess they would love to have more kite events, like freestyle & big air - just as they have now with snowboarding/skiing. However, not very practical as there are few places in the world that have reliable enough strong wind to ensure that the events could be held successfully. Just as well, perhaps, as I would worry about a huge influx of noobie kitesurfers if kiting received a lot of TV coverage. Better to leave it as a boring "sailing event". Also, good for keeping LWC fired up.

The big news is that it's not a male/female relay race anymore, but there will be 2 medals (one for the men and one for the women).
