The helmet is a retired helmet that has even lost some of it's strength from UV.
Dropped from 8ft.

I think most functioning humans could work out that dropping a helmet, or indeed anything made of strong plastic, onto a rock from 8ft versus a watermelon is going to yield these results…

What happens if its higher than 8 ft though? 8ft drop is only a 2ft lofting for a 6ft person. Does the water melon still survive from 15ft? Thats a proper lofting. What about higher speed. Gravity is fine but kitesurfers are measuring 100kph speeds from a kiteloop these days. What if you fire the water melon at a rock at 100kph. Does it still stay intact in the helmet.

My wife made a really lovely lasagne last night. I was tempted to do a helmet test with it but instead I ate it. Sorry.

Do the same experiment into water with a G-meter, at increasing speeds?

It simply shows that the impact on your head is less with a helmet than without. Then it's up to you to decide wether it's worth the risk to go without it or not.
If you decide to use a helmet it's again up to you to decide how much protection from your helmet you need and then choose the right helmet.
Just as simple as that. Nothing more, nothing less.

The point is that an helmet will save you from impacts that would have killed you without an helmet.
And just like any existing safety device on earth, it won’t save you from all of them.

Does it not have magical capabilities Fred?
Any contact details for the makers of the super sexy water-skiing race helmet yet?
