12-14kn is not light wind. Those doors couple of people suggested is 8ish knots riding which is true light wind. Single digit wind speeds in knots I try to call ultra light wind to really separate what kind of "light wind" people are talking about.

You a German speaker perhaps ? I have only heard Germans use ‘quite some’ like that. Quite some many times actually.

As for board, I have a different situation at 98 kilo. My early struggles were just to go upwind in the normal winds you’re talking about…and the solution to that was indeed a massive door. LW Cruiser 160x44. I also needed a big kite. I eventually got a 17m Slingshot Turbine. With skill improvements, now I can probably kite in the same conditions with my LF Edge 146cm and AR DNA 14m. I like the Edge cause definitely more ‘fun’, but going upwind can still take up your time like it wouldn’t on a bigger board. It’s a trade off. More fun (jumping) with less wind I think would require a bigger kite more than a bigger board, but hard to have fun when you always have to fight back upwind after every jump. Maybe time to look into a different type of fun with foilboards…. a bitch to learn, but quite some better than sitting on the beach !

hi all,

i am now the owner of a lieuwe 138. I am getting used to it. It seems it requires quite some wind to have fun with this board, at least 18 knots with my 11m EVO SLS. I am 80kg.

So am looking for a board that would do the job from 14 to 18 knots

what would you recommend? a door doesnt seem a good option as i believe i can still have some fun and jump with 15 knots. Just need to have some flatter rocker board.

I would run to buy this until is available, is a true occasion, not only for the low price, Shinn does not produce it anymore the Light winds Bronq cause the production costs, new comes at more than 1000 euro!
Shinn Bronq are specials boards, with amazing wind range, playful, plush, light and really comfortable ride, you can't go wrong

have you tried the 150? it's lighter than my 144 spectrum, but 50 wide seems massive, it it just a cruiser or still agile? cheers

good question, I have the 148x47, have a very big range, some time I used it with a 7m and 24 knots to play with medium chop and was fun, it's agile for its dimensions, I bet the 150 it's still fun to be so big because have round shape and have some rocker too, it's for sure not a door style board but have very good low end

Shinn Bronq boards are very special boards, I bet you can't imagine how can be comfortable for its measures
(for 250£ is an absolute bargain, I'm still thinking to buy it just for the price, but it's in the UK and now have to pass customs to Italy)

the only shinn review if found from pmaggie was for a 136,
so the bronq is just fat in the middle, it tapers off to the ends, it looks like a normal sized board in those photos,

My vote is for a Slingshot Glide. I have the larger 159 of the "9s" [149/159] version. Thru the years, there are probably 3-4 different graphics on the same board shape and design.Think only the shape of the tips have changed [not totally squared off] on the new version [less spray in the face?]. The Glide has very little rocker and isn't very wide. The 159/161 is only 40 cm [40.5?] wide. Surprisingly, the shorter 149/151 is just a touch wider at 41 cm. The narrowness allows you to edge like a regular TT, instead of having to fight hard and constantly leverage a wider board. What makes the board shine in light wind is the straight and long edge, allowing it to live up to its name. We call it our cheater board. I can jump on this board [from my 138TT] and avoid having to pump up a kite 1-2 sizes bigger. I also found out, to my surprise, that the 159 Glide planes up sooner than my 5'4" Convert [Angry Swallow] surfboard.
