Impressive, but it looks awkward and potentially a nasty landing. At my age and ability I'll stick to kite jumps!

While it's a very impressive wingsurfing jump, the best I've seen yet, it's not indicative of the sport because that kid is 110 lbs wet. A normal sized adult will get far less hang time and come down much harder.

I think we could get a lot more air if we rode bigger wings - say 12 m in size? It would also probably help a lot if we suspended the wing on long ropes high up in the air to catch more wind and help us parachute down. Also if we made the board smaller, lighter, and lost the foil I think it would be nicer for landings and also reduce our swing weight.
couldn't help myself.

Yeah, but let's go all the way!.
I have done "jumps" up to 3000m altitude on a 22m contraption similar to what you describe, they called it a "paraglider".
Once up you can do all sorts of sexy&stylish contortions and call them "tricks".
Couldn't help myself either, love it when kiters get grumpy about winging

Wing jumps will never amaze spectators the way kite jumps do
