Nexus 3

Postby CaptainCore » Tue Apr 26, 2022 9:16 pm

Rarely do I get excited these days about something new, but this one, is worth checking out, if you do one thing this summer, try and get a go on this, you'll be pleasantly surprised. If you've been around the block, got the T shirt, and just want the one kite, maybe do some waves, maybe foil, have the timing to know when to send it when you hit the lip, maybe want to try and keep up to speed on those unhooked tricks...

What can I say, it's got more low end, it's lighter faster and all that shit they always come up with, but hey, just give one a go...

I guess. We haven't been allowed to fly them publicly even though we've had them since early march so it had to be secret squirrel and no stuff on the internet, there'll no doubt be plenty of marketing bollox in the coming weeks, as there always is, which we tend to let fly over our heads. (Ha see what I did there?)

But this one I think is worth a look, if you get a chance, demo's in your part of the world, dealers with a loaner (not many of them about these days), just bung it at the back of your mind for a future look at, and remember you read it here first. ;-)

Thanks for that, Core have been a bit quieter than normal with this one, haven't even seen the usual new kite post from Toby, whatever, the advice remains the same, this one is worth a look our demo guy really rates it and yes you could say he would wouldn't he...

Well you got it, lighter and stronger apparently if the spec of this new cloth is to be believed. It's definitely lighter (I know this from weighing them to ship out) It's faster in the air and has more low end torque.

But really you've got to fly one, they really are cute.

So nice to hear that the kite is "cute", that is my first and only consideration in buying a kite.

Seriously, if the kite is lighter, why doesn't Core publish the weight on their website like a lot of other kite companies do? Plus, the other specifications of interest like span, AR, suggested line length, projected area, suggested bar size. So for example, a competitive kite to the Nexus 3 is the Ozone Enduro 3. I can see that the Enduro 3 in a size 11 weighs 2.9 kilos on the Ozone website and all of the specs listed above. Is the Nexus 3 the same weight, lighter, heavier???

Another question for you. Is the Core Sensor Bar a low V or a high V setup? You never know anymore these days, another thing that would be nice for kite companies to list on the webpage.

Core does a great job listing all of the key tech, but for a German Company, I am surprised that I can't find specifications. Perhaps, I am just missed the button on the website somewhere.

One more thing, I can't believe Core still has the plastic clip to deflate the kite. I thought that would have gone the way of the twist release on the chicken loop, it is so 2015. No, I am not bagging on Core, I have several Core kites and boards. They are well-designed and have held up well, but a company can always do better - even Core.

I'm sorry, I don't get out as much as I'd like, that Ozone? I googled that, it's some kind of bleach company, you say they make kites, are they any good getting right round the Toilet U bend?

As to your suggestion that despite the supply chain issues, the shipping problems, Covid lockdowns and general market uncertaintys, 'Even Core' can always do better. I'll let them know, somebody on the internet thinks they can do better, I'm sure they'll get right on it, even though this 'somebody' has yet to even try their latest offering.
