Slingshot swivel is big crap - need alternative

Postby kit3surfer » Sat Aug 13, 2022 9:53 am

Hi,
all of my 4 Slingshot guardian swivels are no more working properly. The newest is only nearly one year old and doesn't rotate anymore. I already put some Sailcote on it, but stil a pita to untwist after every downloop transition manually.
Can yoi recommand alternatives?
Thanks

My suggestion is not to bother about the swivel - just loop the kite in opposite direction few times to undo the twist

Spot on, or do one or two backward flips as faster and easier if really powered.

One or two twists doesn't harm the flagging so you could also, like most of us I think, make moves where you loop the other way.
Never good to practice one side only anyways

I have never bothered with swivels and prefer bars without, simpler smaller stronger lighter, no downsides :thumb:

Too bad that old and faithful slingshot is having issues. For some years already.

My bars are old, but core (normal) and fone (autoswivel) worked well. Fone just needed some lubing and looking after.

Also read online that north navigator 2022 has improved swivel from problematic 2021.

Im also in need of buying new bar. What are the best working low Y bars in 2022?

EDIT: for the perfect boys doing all tricks and tacks in both directions:
Not all of us do that :D I love my swivels

Does the mentionned swivels work with my slingshot bar?
Does anybody know the wainman swivel? I read somewhere it could be working?

Wd40 and some muscle will break them free. Bad thing is the bearings are cheaper stainless so they end up corroding from the salt water. I had a few swivels I had to do this with of theirs over the years. Switched out to the above the bar trim and did not have to worry about it after that. The new bars are the same as the core auto swivel bars.

You can make any brands above the bar swivel work just have to make sure your lines are all even after modding the bar. Pig tails would be an easy fix for that on your kite lines. The big kicker is most brands have gone to a below the bar swivel and just a splitter for above the bar.
