Such a tease... Anyhow looked like almost no wind so guessing will be hard to say much?

Thanks to my friends at Kiteboarding.com for chance to demo a 7.5. I don't know if this kite was a prototype or final.

My predictions:

Sensible steps between sizes. 7.5 is useful on the hydrofoil

Weight is competitive with Peak4

Less backstall and less pinwheel turning compared to Peak4. Sits deep and powered with the bar sheeted in.

The power spike is gentle when flying the kite across the window similar to a Peak

People who like Peaks are going to like the Hybrids and in similar sizes.

Perfect kite for people learning to jibe a hydrofoil and lazy riding swell downwind

I loved the bar - it’s super clean and awesome. If there was an option to replace the chicken loop with a micro loop altogether - that’d be cool.
As of kite. It reminded me 4m Viron I used to have. Pretty thick LE, not enough ribs on the rear end making it look a bit baggy, yet behaves well, would work great for beginners.
And strange things happen too - Gorge is full of directional riders riding RPMs and Peak is adored by some foilers, so I’m not going to be making predictions. Certainly glad I’ve tried the kite

since most of us Peak riders already like it, it would seem the only reason for a hybrid would be the relaunch. i've had very limited success relaunching my Peaks as i kite in generally rough/wavy conditions and unless it comes down perfectly upright, it ain't relaunching. but none of these reviews talk about relaunch, though i suspect when you're given a kite to test, you're not going out there and dunking it into the water on purpose. for me, the only reason i'd consider this hybrid would be if it relaunches much better AND flies as well as a regular Peak.

Nice comment, i think everything will show the price, if price will be slightly higher than Peak definitely most foilers will choose to buy it instead Peak, but if price will be near double or half of Peak than i think will be weak sales, especially because a lot of foilers already own Peak5 or Peak4 quivers.
The risk that hybrid will have also issues with relaunching in waves is obvious. I think all depends still on time frame, probably first 10-15 seconds crucial for success, if not than the same problems as with Peak ,because Double skin surface is relatively small.

The relaunch works great I tried it on a 7.5m. When you let go of the bar it sails down and does not tomahawk. Then the single skin flaps back and does not build a shell like a LEI, so almost no pull. When the backplanes are tensioned again it lifts off easily. When released it does the same spinning thing that peaks do on single front line. Since the A bridles go cross, the single frontline safety might have been attached to the wrong line I don’t know. I played around with it resting on the surface, releasing and reattaching and letting it float to the outside of the window. It did all of that without problem and started again. The 7.5 felt more like my 6m peak5 than the peak4 8m I tried a while back, both in turning speed and pull. It also does not move back much when it flutters and is very smooth in gusts.

Yes, when a kite review begins, "I loved the bar", well then ...... (Grigory is showing his midwest politeness. If you can't say anything nice, then....)
