I installed this a couple of weeks ago (when it was still very much beta and about v0.2 ).

+ Detected each jump and didn't get phantom jumps.
+ The callibration on start was really good so it could figure out how choppy the water is

- Jump heights were about double compared to woo
- Didn't log all the individual jumps into the app

Bear in mind that this was an older version and it looks like most of the negatives have been addressed/updated since then. Its a fun project to look into. It does capture the GPS trace into your garmin session too so you can run this instead of the Woo app and still capture your session.

Haven't tested the app, but if it works even with 60-70% accuracy - it will be fantastic!
I want to ask the people that tried it - does it still record your GPS track and heart rate? And does it register the activity like "Kiteboarding" after uploading to Garmin Connect?

PS. In the light of Garmin refusing to add "Kiteboarding" as a native(built in) activity on Fenix 6 series watches, this application can easily trump what Fenix 7 currently has from Garmin itself!

Yes. Tracks GPS track and heart rate. Stores as a Kiteboarding session. Doesn't (Didn't in my trial) have a log of individual jumps in the same way as the woo app though. Just the highest/longest/fastest etc.

Need more wind that isn't offshore to give it another go with the latest version to see what's changed. Could be just what I want for hydrofoiling. I don't use my woo as I don't want extra stuff on the board that I might stand on.

Sounds good! :) Let's see how this app develops in the future, I hope the author adds a more configurable screen as currently I do not see an option to have the time of day and elapsed time on water always on. I will be happy with subscription/donation model as this will give the developer incentive not to lose interest and abandon the app :)

Hello people, I am the developer of the KiteJump app for Garmin watches.

Firstly - thanks for the feedback from those that have tried it, It allows for rapid improvements for you as users.

If you wanted a more speed / race type application then I suggest take a look at my other application SAIL RACER. It has everything including the kitchen sink - except jump height.
Includes a free 5 hour trial period so check it out for free and decide for yourself. Built primarily for course racing / windward / leeward / hydrofoil racing etc.

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/1980 ... c0e09ba2ba

Kitesurf jump height app is here:

https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/ca00 ... 9c8308d865

At the moment it's the 10th version ( 0.3.1 )
Session sill automatically start recording as soon as you turn the applicatin on, and will show your record height/length/hangtime of all time.
As you start kiting, the screen will change to show Time and Speed
When you jump, the watch will vibrate once calculations are done, and show you realtime height, length, takeoff speed, distance etc.
Any time the app is running, you can scroll up or down and you will be a ble to go through all of your jumps detected in that session.

The Garmin Connect Mobile website will give you all the usual Maps / speed graphs / heart rate etc, and down the bottom there is the IQ fields which there are some more of your session / all time records shown in.

For now my focus is on any bugs reported plus validating the launch / landing detect and calculations, then I'll go back to the user interface, and then finally look at a webpage.

Now starting to get somewhere.

Try 0.4.1 out
https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/ca00 ... 9c8308d865

Added speedgate filter to ignore all stationary jumps, and added 2.5 meter minimum jump height to avoid tall people registering jumps when they touch their toes.

So got a good deal on a Garmin watch.
Downloaded the app.
Do you have to calibrate it every session
