i saw a short video of these on water a while ago. i cant see that they are hooked in? must be well hard on the arms!

I saw the water version as well. Weren't they hooked in there?
I am sure it's much harder in water due to the drag than on e.g. inliner skates !?

it does look kindof cool, especialy on the ice, but that brings up a question, has any one tried to iceskate with a kite or is it too dangerous, with the sharp blades.

I think that would be great! A nice idea for a new sport: Icekiting!!

Tim McGruder had his Wind Weapon and Jim Drake had his WingSails twenty years ago ... looks very similar!

I bought one of these about 10 years ago. Still have it. Fun on ice and hard snow. Much prefer kite on snow. It can handle tons of wind, much more safely on ice. However, it takes very little wind to get going on ice with skates.

I've done quite a bit of kitewinging on ice...on speed skates. Speeds in excess of 50MPH are easy and it doesn't take a lot of wind. We were getting the best speeds on smaller wings...less drag. I've gone down at over 60MPH. all you do is let the wing go and slide...for about a 1/4 mile.

From what I understand, they added some flotation for water use so the wing doesn't sink when you go down, but a deep water re-launch is still not really possible....certainly not easy anyway.

Not a new sport. Icekiting has probably been done since guys have been using kites to pull themselves across surfaces.
