Calling All Senior Kiteboarders

I just finished reading an article entitled "Flowin in the Wind". in the most recent issue of AARP Magazine. It is a look into the world of senior kiteboarding. The writer,himself a kiteboarder, emphasizes the spirit and enthusiasm of these older folks of which I am one. They possess an extraordinarily high degree of mental and physical fitness which allows them to participate in a sport that we all love. They have paid their dues learning and continue to thrive in a predominantly young environment.

Personally, I had no idea as to the number of senior riders out there until I contacted a few of them. This has led me to the idea of a Senior Kiteboarding Club. The senior riders I have contacted thus far seem to be in favor of this idea. To get it off the ground I think a senior kiteboarding week in Cape Hatteras (possibly in May 2008) would be a blast.

I am interested in any feedback from the senior kiting community.

I cant define senior but according to AARP its 50 and up. As far as inviting women ,the more the better!

Superb idea, only five years to go for me to gain entry into this exclusive club. By that time, the club will be well established and looking for some "young blood". Can't wait to meet the chicks. Go for it and stay young. Smashin' article by the way. :D

There are at least 4 or 5 of us who are 65 and over at South Padre Island, Texas. Two of us are IKO certified instructors, and another is certainly qualified to teach, although not certified. Also a lot of senior kiters visit SPI in the spring and fall.
