Postby KiteVol » Sat Oct 18, 2008 11:53 am

Has anyone ridden both of these?? Is the windrage the same? Can you tell if they r similar or very different kites. I weigh 90kg.

Thanks

I have been in the opportunity to test both kites.. In my honest
opinion i can say "windrange card is correct"

I have been testing the RippeHR 9m2, 12m2 and Eze 9m2, 11m2 and 13m2..
I personaly like the Eze the best. It has less bar pressure and more hangtime and has a great constant pull on the powerline (CL-line) so it makes the kite a great kite for wakestyle and oldscool tricks.

You need to make the decision based on your riding style and conditions you usually ride. I have used the 9m EZE several times and like it a lot but it just isn't enough kite for my fat a$$. I'm at least 5kg heavier than you. Unfortunately, the wind here is fickle at best so I use the 11m EZE the majority of the time I ride. I prefer the 12m Unleashed when the wind is strong and I don't need to worry about severe lulls. Both kites have exceptional upwind ability and great lift/hang. A friend of mine (a very advanced kiter) liked the 9m EZE so much he is going to get one even though he isn't in the market for new gear.

The Unleashed is geared more for freestyle, excels in strong wind and has an incredible top end. Turning and flying it's very fast when compared to other kites of similar size. The bar pressure is heavier than the EZE but its still light. Kiteloops are very easy and fast. What I like the most about the Unleashed is that it's super responsive with great feedback to the bar. I know exactly what the kite is doing and where it is without wanting to look at the kite just to be sure.

The EZE is more of an allround kite for any level of rider. It has good range, better low end than the Unleashed but tops out earlier, even when comparing the 9e to the 12u. It's feather light bar pressure is great for long sessions. Turning speed isn't as fast as the Unleashed, but is more than acceptable, plus the slower turning also makes it a bit more stable. I really like the user-friendliness of the EZE. PM if you have any other questions.

I'm quite curios about these EZE. Here in Italy I haven't ever see one. In my spot usually thermal wind is 10-12 knots. Wonder how soon a EZE 11 would go with my 67 Kg? Is a good kite to ride strappless a surfboard in light winds?

Do you have EH kites in Italy? The FreakDog kites might be sold as EH outside of the US, but the model name for the EZE is the same under both labels. The EZE is certainly worth demo-ing if you can. Nice to be out there jumping and heading up wind when other folks are sitting with their kites on the beach.

Had an excellent EZE 13m day on Sunday! 10 mph - 15 mph with gusts to 18-19. Averaging 12-14, no problems, and I was on a 138 x 40 twin tip. I weigh in at 170 lbs.

Unfortunately for what I know EH is not in Italy, and I have no info about other European countries.

The same designer makes design for the italian firm KITELOOSE (or simply LOOSE), they have a kite very similar to the EZE (it's called Hawk) BUT it's designed more for top-end than low-end power

About the EZE 11....what about relaunch in light winds? I've never tried so high AR bow kite

I live in the Netherlands and got the kites deliverd by www.ehkites.eu / www.ehkites.be..

As i already told you the windcard is correct and yes its a great kite for strapsless wave riding (TOP HEAT is also riding EH/Freakdog and he is the strapless wave riding king) :bye:
