But where do I go? Any tips? I can get to anywhere in the med for next to nothing but would consider something a bit further.
Need a good school. At water start level.
Thanks

Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) could be a good choice, even more if you are thinking on coming during the next months.
We are a kitecenter located at Corralejo, north Fuerteventura (Canary Islands) if you need any information don´t hesitate to contact us.
Good Holiday

hi Pin Head,
I'm slightly ahead of you in the learning curve (now managing to stay upwind) and have been spending quite a lot of time at the moment looking around for somewhere to go at this time of year and my research and other peoples suggestions seem to suggest the following places:
Egypt,
Portugal,
Grand Canaria,
Dakhla (Western Sahara) - if your not looking for anything other than kiting.
Cape Hatteras, North Carolina,
South Padre Island Texas,
Aruba
Bonaire
Curacao
from what I gather ur going to get wind almost every day in these places at this time of year.
If u go somewhere let me know how it was cause im still deciding on somewhere for April/May.
thanks
not sure what anyone elses opinion on this is but i would strongly suggest buying your own gear if your going for 3 weeks, the money you would spend renting will pay for the gear outright, and after you are done with the beginner course if you have your own stuff all u need is practice (presuming your on a safe beach that is suitable for learners).
i have tried quite a few different kites while i was learning and to be honest really didn't notice any differences worth talking about, apart from the differences in type of kite (C vs Bow for example then the difference was noticeable) so if you can decide on the type of kite you want, i'd buy it either before you go or after your course and spend the rest of the time practicing. save you wasting money renting and then u have your own gear forever more.
maybe others will disagree ?
good luck
Bob

Pin,
I would recommend if you are planning on going to Fuerteventura then you either use Rene-Egli (
www.rene-egli.com) in the south or Flag Beach (
www.flagbeach.com) in the north. Both places have been established for many years 20+, have a full watersports set up and are professional.
I learned to kite 2 years ago having windsurfed most of my life and made the mistake of using Red shark as they were slightly cheaper. I don't want to go into it on this forum but put it this way i won't be recommending them and advise you to stay well clear.
visited Dhakla last year and thats a great place for kiting, no night life and if the wind doesn't blow then not much else to do but a great location.
Good luck
Mark

El Gouna, Egypt is one of the best for a beginner...
And you'll have more kiteable days than in any other destination.
