Hi
A friend of mine recently broke his Mako 150 x 40 board. The board was lent to a beginner trying to stay upwind on a 12m in 15 knots and came back with the back half hanging off.
The board was bought in July 08. We contacted the reseller if we could claim for a new board. We were told the board was out of the warranty period. The board is less than 12 months old.
The break is a pretty serious issue and previously in the past with other manufactures I've known of them honouring such a break even upto 2 years on one occasion with underground boards.

If the retailer won't help you, why not contact Ocean Rodeo directly? It seems the next logical step rather than posting about.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I bought my board at the same time as you so I assume a bad batch from the factory . All I can say was that the retailer's overall support was less than ideal, but the guys at Ocean Rodeo more than made up for it. 'nuff said.

I agree with Kitedude, even the worst board in the market wont break just like that, unless you go over a rock or hit something, but i am sure that OR will do something about it.
still how do you know that inside that 12 months period the board didn't get a crack? I just find hard to believe that it would brake like that.

I think clintopher is right. Why didn't you contact Ocean Rodeo BEFORE posting on a forum? I never understand why people do this. In my opinion the OR team is very responsive and a good group of people. I'm sure they would be willing to work with you.

I agree! In fact, I am surprised that you mention that your dealer hasn't been supportive. I've checked out our correspondance with them and we've already told them we'd replace your board for you. Perhaps give them another ring?
We've had very few Mako warranty claims, so any that we see we tend to pay close attention to!
Glad to keep you a happy member of
Mako Nation!

Contact Ocean Rodeo....
From what I have heard from a dealer I know they have really good customer service.
And that's comming from a guy that is not happy with customer service from most companies.

Hi John OR Sales
Thank you for the quick response, I'm sorry i had to put the post up but It was the quickest way to get a reply. The dealer in question has been quite slow in responding to us. And I wasn't sure if I'd contacted the right people off the OR site.
I will follow up with another email to the dealer based on your comments.
I've been very impressed by the board and the reaction of others who have had chance to ride one. I will be ordering a few boards myself to put in our school. It handles the chop here excellent.
Under no way was I trying knock OR I was only seeking a quick response for a frustrated friend.
Once again thank you for you advise and outstanding customer service.
