I got this new kite and it has a trick I'm unable to reproduce on any of my other kites. The kite sits directly downwind - I grab the back lines - the kite backs up in the air like a pickup truck - I give one line a little extra tension ... and the sucker rotates within its length ...heading straight up. New-style Hot Launch. Pretty cool!
Here's a little clip in about 5kts... Explain: 1) I drop the kite ... 2) center the kite ... 3) pull the two back lines. BINGO.
The Rebel 2009 relaunches that way too, pull both back line, let go of one and off it goes... Easier on the snow since the LE sticks less to the surface than on water.

Cool... I got a 2005 SS fuel that's designed to launch in a similar way provided that you have it set up right. I don't use the setup though because it launches in 5 sec without it. When standing in shallow water there's usually no problem re-launching any kite 5kts of wind is there? Launching in deep water in 5kts is another story though.
Denis: Maybe you needed a little more wind ... it seemed slow to me?! Mine flips up a lot faster than that. I have a shoulder-mount for the cam; next time I will make it easier for you to see.
.... I also had the cam set 90 degrees to best view a port tack. It would have been more dramatic if it was mounted up/down. Next time I will do both... Cheers.

.... Ooops forgot.
Flipper and Slim. I tried this reverse/hot launch last week with my Royal Era 14 - No Way it would do it..'simply not.
And yesterday, I took out my current favorite, Rhino 08-14 about 15min. after this video .. and it refused to do it also. BUT - to its credit, it simply relaunched very fast in conventional fashion. It did not take 5 minutes of tip-waddling to do it either.
I am sure there are kites - I do not have - than can do it. It is simply another easy and fun thing to do. ....maybe next time, a series of loops on the way up, eh? Cheers all.
hot rashguard, do chicks dig it? (rhetorical question)
I am more interested in the kite though, since I too am plagued by anemic bay breezes.......
Sorry for the teasing
but seriously the video was all choppy and no kite in it.
What is it, what size, weight and how do you ride in 10knts?
Mediocre or poor?
Still need to be convinced there is any good kiting in 8, 9, 10 knots for a grown man....
