Headed to Saipan in December. Tried to look things up on the web, but all the info is 5 years old. I am hoping they have a school or kite beaches with locals that can advise on do's and don'ts. Not sure which side of the island is best to be on - from where the prevaling winds are and all sorts of other questions. Grateful for any advice,
db

Hy, did you get any further information?. I will be in Japan next week and try to fly to Saipan on the 12th december for kitesurfing.
Will you still be there? How can we meet there?
Found some locals, or good spots and weather sites allready?
Thanks
Jay

Did either of you end up kiting in Saipan? Could you provide a brief trip report? I may be going there in a couple months. Thanks!

Yes, wind was not to strong, but ok if you have lightwind gear;-)
You can find more information about the spots at
www.kitebeaches.com.
Rental car is no problem. Infrastructure is like in the U.S

For info on kiting in Saipan, check
http://www.kiteboardsaipan.com. The best wind is in the winter with peaks around January and February. Plenty of wind showing up in December, and you can keep kiting with big kite or foil until April or May. West side.
