crap for wind when I can get out
everyone else is riding on 12s or smaller and I can't get my 16 to pull me
my 2 best rides were on loaner switchblades from the shop
hey, guy! you are not so fat, as me, but I can kite from 13knots !!!

To you it is definitely necessary to get a normal big board, like
spleene door 159x45 or monster door 164x50.
and I think, You don't need a bigger kite at all.
for now I look for 10-11m kite for winds from 20knts.

I, like you, try to kite since 2007, but without normal board it's so boring (board i have in 2007 - nobile ext 143x48 :) :) now i understand that that board for me useful from 17knts) and in 2008 I forget about kiting, but when i got really big board airush square2 155x47 - it's for me like new page in my life.
I kite on airush in egypt, el gouna 10 days in winds - 15-30knots.
next my board is spleene monster door. it's wonderfull. I kite 3 month on this.
asd_IMG_4512.jpg
spleene monster door 2009
and as small board, I use spleene rip'39.
den_IMG_5265.jpg
spleene rip 139 2009
but for now I buy simple door(not monster) (159x45) and can kite with 15 rev from 12 knots !!!
in this year I kite maybe 70 days.

all this year I kite on SLINGSHOT REV2 15m 2009, fast, friendly, good kite for learning.

few weeks ago I try NORTH RHINO 18m 2005, it's very powerful kite as for me, and my wind range with this RHINO is 11-20knts, in 21+knts I afraid him :o

Started out with a Spleene Monster Door (I call him Demsond!), now always use a Nobile 140x44cm in all but the lightest of winds.

Will be updating to an Ozone Zephyr (17m) in 2010......

All power to you 'Man Size' kitesurfers......!!!! I didn't relaise there were so many of us!
We should start our own club! ;)
after few accidents I start to afraid lightwind kites, they are made for small peoples in light winds, but with fat riders in good wind they are absolutely unuseful. but I don't kite on Zephyr, and don't know, how he can fly with me.

no one manufacturer think about fat guys. you see wind charts? almost all charts for riders +- 75kg.
how we can choose kites? only buy and rip it. :(

Yes this sure is a sport for the little man ... 75kg? I think I passed that in my last year of high school, playing squash and running everyday ...!
My board is 155x45 I think and is fast ... I think I'll get that big Airush board though too. Changing a board is easier than changing a kite!

sounds like fun
I made it out to Hamamatsu (Miasaka) a couple times this year, first time ever in the surf and I learned what it's all about (got pounded!). Second time out the wind shifted to off shore so I came back home. Hope to get out there more next year.
Might get to run out one day next month to watch some of the JPKA tour.

Is Nagahama where you go on Biwa? That's another place I may try next year too.

13knots would be sweet! I was afraid of the surf and always went to the local river where the wind is really bad. Now that I know the surf won't kill me I will hope to have a lot more opportunities next year.
The door looks like it could be fun, might try to make something like that out of plywood and see how it goes.

A decade later, and almost as heavy as I was :( Did well for half the decade, got right down ... then the wife took maternity leave and insisted on cooking and my healthy cooking went out the window.

Get back on it this year. Honest.
