Can anybody recommend me a cheap place to stay for about three weeks from May 20th to June 10th in Naxos? I'm traveling alone and on a budget and would like to avoid paying 100 euro a night for a guest house if at all possible. What exactly is considered cheap around there anyway? I've looked up info in a search on here and have found some good recommendations about where to ride, but nothing really helpful about what everything costs.
Anybody have any info that could help me out?
Cheers,
Van

Went there last summer. There are a number of places to stay right on the beach at Mikir Vigla. We stayed at Oasis Studios:
http://www.mikri-vigla.com/ and had a good stay. Pretty basic accommodations and the owner is friendly and knowledgeable. Also
http://www.hotel-orkosbeach.com/ has rooms and a kite center as well.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

may/june plenty of room in naxos and easy to deal for a 3 weeks period (it works)
if you are going alone it could be more fun looking for a studio in town
I would get there, rent a small scooter and have a little tour around the windy side
(from naxos town to mikry vigla)
or may be change location while staying if you feel like
in my opinion you should spend a week in naxos then move to paros (one hour ferry, just in front) and stay the 2 extra weeks in a couple of paros spots (if you have never been there)

Hi !
IMO Mikri Vigla is the place to stay. Straight on the spot, food and kite and relax in a walk.
Consider that kiting is banned on other spots in the island.
this year in Aug I had 2 weeks 25 + knots all days.
It's a wind generator.
my 2 cents

Been there 3 summers. Stayed at Maroulis Studios. 5 min walk 2 beach. But that's good. It blows 25-30 knts 24/7. So its nice to get out of wind. Google it. Mrs. Stamatiki does not speak english but will respond to email via family. Nice lady, clean Android aircon works. MV is unspoilt. Stelios is best place to eat.

I second Mikri Vigla.
No great place for afterkite parties, but it's ideal for kiteing purpose.
Any of the "studios" (that's what they're called there) in the link below are about 5 min. walk to the beach:
http://www.mikrivigla.com/accommodation.htm
End of May and June are good months as it's not crowded and you can ask for good prices (maybe half of what you wouldn't pay
).
Beware when you cross the line between the tip of the island and the little island in front. The small hill causes turbulence and you lose pull like in a lull, but as soon as you cross the line by a few yards (meters) you get very strong winds which may cause a crash and kite drop and you"ll get dragged towards open sea.

Thanks everyone for the advice. My company's asked people who can take work off to do so in order to give more needy mariners some time on our ships. I'm now looking at a longer trip, between late March and Mid-June. Is Greece still recommended for that time frame? If so, anyone know how much it would cost to live there for that long? I know when you start to compare prices between three week stays and three month stays it can be quite drastic.
Thanks again!
