I'm starting to consider getting a helmet. Looking for one that is comfortable, works well at absorbing impact, allows you to wear sea specs with the helmet, comfortable chin strap.
Are visors not recommended or are they okay? I currently wear a soft fishing hat ("On Golden Pond" hat...) to keep the sun and rain out of my face. Figure, I might as well trade in the fishing hat for some bona fide protection
Recommendations?

My first impression is that there are only about 4 to choose from, and they're all mostly black with a few models in Red, Blue, or white. I'm surprised that they haven't done designs on the helmets like they do with boards. That would allow for some differentiation from all the other helmet headed people on the water...

Go to a surf or wake shop and try a few ones. Just don't order one from the internet, as it'll be pure luck if it fits well.

I have the protec two face.
Super fit, very light and slim...
No probs with the metal parts in saltwater...
...and you can wear the cap backwards like a baseballcap...

whatever you do, dont be tempted to buy the Decathlon watersports helmet...they very cleverly managed to choose an adhesive that is not waterproof and so various things have started to come apart on mine after only a few months of use

any company out there smart enough to make a helmet that works for water and land (snowboarding)?
