Slingshot has done something amazing again this year. This kite is such a beast and with the addition of the split-strut the Fuel is extremely steady when flying through the wind window. A constant pull with light bar-pressure which drops even more when going into a pop so that you can stick your handlepass without any problem. For big boosting you still need to really get used to the typical C-kite feeling, but once you get the hang of it this machine takes you up there. I have the 9m which especially in the unhooked kiteloops really gives you this massive pull upwards instead of yanking you downwind, this all improved because of the split strut system.

All I can say about the 2012 slingshot fuel is that it is kitesurfing perfection. Really all the compliments to the slingshot team for creating this pure freestyle monster.

How is the bar pressure compare to the 2011 ? are the wind range and turning speed the same ?

What do you mean by "more steady"....less jelly-fishing ?

I didn't get to fly last years fuel, but compared to the 2010 fuel the bar pressure feels slightly lighter. Turning speed is still incredibly fast and when you time your kiteloops right it really gives you that extra lift instead of just dropping down. Because of the splitstrut the canopy is obviously tighter and therefore there is less to none jelly fishing when you pump it up well. Windrange I don't really know yet, but it has a really great lowend.

Is their any difference noticeable in the air due to the split strut? Tighter canopy was already on the 2011 Fuel and made a bit less flutter during loops.

In high performance kites that have proved themselves over the years we all know that the changes made each year are hardly noticeable. The split strut is an other miniscule tweak which you don't really notice unless you have driven fuels for years in a row and I'm not that guy. I do believe that the split strut system really gives the kite maximum stability and the way the kite loops is the most obvious difference, although the fuel off course always has been a kiteloop beast.

I have the 2010 in 13, 9 and 7 and I think that the 9 and 7 is a bit too close and when upgrading to 2012 I might want to change the 7 to a 6. But when looking at the wind graph from SS home page the 6 looks like a bummer.. Anyone tested the 6 and can compare it a 7?

i was also wondering which size to choose....6 and 9 or 7-9 ......I am afraid that the gap between 6-9 is too big for unhooking..... What is the upper range of the 7 ?

I've owned a 09, 10 and 11m 7m fuel I had the 6m for a while but is a very strange kite.

The 7m is the sweetest fuel in my opinion you can get going quite early, is always very predictable in the loops and jumps huge.

I could get going on the 6m in about 23k's + but I never found the top end or sweet spot after 10+ sessions in winds up to 40knots. It seemed very unpredictable compared to the 7m. I think there would be a big gap between the 9m and the 6m.

I weigh 80kgs and riding a 132 TT.
