RRD Vision

Postby Slip-n-Slide » Sun Aug 14, 2011 3:44 am

What's the consensus on the RRD Vision? Apparently it's supposed to be a good beginner/all around kite. What's it compared to the Ocean Rodeo Rise?

I just tried and then ordered 2 of these. Really liked them--great all around and easy to use kite. I like my Wainmans, but in the 9 meter size, I liked the Vision better for free riding and jumping.

Have you tried also the 12m?

How about upwind ability?

Does the kite "drift" well when riding in the wave?

Thanks,
y.

I have the 12 and 10.5 visions and smaller religions. Have not tried smaller visions yet

I really like the larger size visions. They work great for light air waves, with nice quick turning, very smooth power delivery, and good drift. With the light construction they float in the sky and climb back up very nicely in light air. Upwind is good also, they sit a a nice spot in the window, not too far forward, not too far back..just right! In the large sizes I prefer them to the religions but am probably sacrficing some durability for performance as the religions have super heavy duty dacron everywhere construction

Also fun freeride/freestyle kite, not as boosty/punchy as the obsession, more of a forgiving feel, but way better than the obs in the waves

Ptraykovsky summed it up pretty well. The smaller sizes handle in a predictable fashion compared to the bigger sizes, just way zippier. Drift is excellent, here's a video I did of the 7 meter in 10-12 mph on the beach. With the kite unhooked, We were holding the bar down at hip height and then just yanking it up to shoulder height to see how it handled slack lines...

Sorry for the lousy audio....

Thanks for your feedback.

Can you comment about the speed of the 12m also? How does it compare with other 12m?

Thanks again.

I feel the 12 has tremedous low end - 10/11 knots and does turn fairly quickly for a 12 - lightness because of the three struts and less dacron. defiantely an excellent lightwind kite - i particularly like it for wave riding.

has anyone used the Vision 7m in the waves. - how does it compare to the religion in the waves

It's fast. Not far behind the religion at all. I even tried it on the slow settings with a short bar and I still thought it was fast.
