Hello:
I was thinking to make a trip to Tarifa next week, but the previsions in the windguru are a bit crazy, the first board states there is no wind, on the second there is a lot of wind.
Can someone explain to me, which board is the correct one?
Is there gone a be wind or not?
Thanks
Luis Simoes

Often in Tarifa the GFS forecast will give you a general idea of which way the wind is blowing and the WRF 9k forecast is the one that actually tells you the wind strength on that day...At this time of year you can normally add about 5-10 knots to any Westerly day (if its also clear skies) on the GFS forecast and even more if the winds Easterly.
The days of no wind are generally signified by the wind swirling around in between these 2 directions..at the moment looking at windguru I would say that there would be wind every day except Monday and possibly Thurs...but the forecast does change quickly here.

I had this same issue in a previous thread about tarifa. My advice, from my experience, is to ignore GFS and look at the 9 km WRF forecast. This was generally pretty accurate during my two week stay there in June. The GFS couldn't even guess the right wind direction which I think is indicative of Tarifas special local wind conditions.

Thanks for the help.

My advice with Tarifa:
go to beach, if wind then kite, if no wind, dont kite
forget windguru in all its formats

WRF 9 is the one to look at , it says on the website GFS model is not as reliable , dont know why its still used.

I read somewhere WRF uses among other things an algorithm that requires certain starting input data. That input is GFS, and that's why is used. Also it gives longer time predictions
