Hi,

Those are the Lagoons near Cotillo. If you are all for getting kiting banned on Fuerte then kite there.

Gunnar, what is the problem there?

I don't think the wind is good in Nov/Dec. Best and most reliable during summer

To get to the wind, warmth and waves you'll need to travel further south to the Cape Verde islands.
I recommend Sao Vicente if you want to have a choice of waves (bigger smaller left , right breaks).

I received the latest flight brochure from the kitesurf center there: seems that flights are much better now (even from Copenhagen).

What is your basis for this statement?
I have always kited in the lagoons without a problem
and I see a lot of the schools using them for training so it must be ok.
If there are no swimmers in the water, I see no problem.

The basis of my statement? I live here and would like to keep kiting in the North of Fuerteventura.

It's a rule set by the Environmental Agency in charge of the Coastal Areas in Spain.

Some of the Illegal (unlicensed and uninsured) Schools work in the lagoons, as they do not conform the the Kite teaching guidelines of the official schools.

The lagoons are way too small for teaching safely anyways and it's an accident waiting to happen, add a few more guys who think they are good and it's asking for even more trouble.

The Actual rules state that the whole North Shore is off limits to all commercial activities and watersports. Surfing, Kiting and Windsurfing are tolerated at the breaks on the North Shore, but it's also not officially allowed.

The whole "I can kite anywhere I want" attitude that a lot of tourist kiters are bringing with them is already creating friction with the surfers and windsurfers, who are now drawing the line and are really not tolerating any kiters at spots where we once used to be able to ride together peacefully.

The whole thing is sad, and I am tired to reminding people that they should follow the rules for everyones benefit.

It's just a shame that kiters who visit the Island to kite obviously don't care about if kiting will be allowed after they leave. Why should they? It's not their home spots they are putting in danger.

What the hell is this?Texas,Corpus Christi Laguna Madre windsurfers access only again?Sound like somebody want to keep the spot for the local groups use only, either surfers and windsurfers or local kiteboarders.Equal access water is for everybody, you guys need to set up a local association to sort it out.

You need to read more carefully.

I totally agree that everyone should have equal access to the spots, BUT only the spots where watersports are allowed. Insisting that you can kite in places where it's not allowed and ignoring the rules will get kiting even more restricted and even worse other water sports too, that is why there is a problem.

I like the fact the Fuerte is a popular destination for kiters, but I can agree with the surfers and windsurfers when they work against the kiters (locals and visiting). We don't need to form an association, we need the visiting kiters to show some respect for the rules.
