Delta/C With 3 struts......is one-pump necessary?

Postby nobby raish » Thu Jan 19, 2012 12:40 am

First, with the advent of 3 strut kites,is one-pump really necessary?
It just makes any repair much harder.
and you can get the struts as hard as you want them...
and loosing it would shave some weight.

I am looking for a new kite, that has these parameters >
Delta/C,3 struts,no pulleys,and preferably no 1-pump(currently only wainman/best?)
I know > wainman/slingy rally/ozone reo.
any else?
does the naish park have pulleys?
what about switch,herd they're coming out with a delta/C
I wish more kites would come with a pulley-less bridal option(wainman wins there)
Are the ozone reo/slingy rally the only delta/hybrids with no pulleys stock?
I have flown 1st gen. wainmans, bandits, ralley and ozone reo
all seemed to lack one thing or another....am i too hard to please?
I am sure any of the above would work fine really...just wondering others thoughts.
It's hard to get a real feel for a kite in a 30-40 minute demo,...ya know?
I liked the reo(8M),but the low-end seemed to lack,other guys w/similar weight
were out on 7M's and surfboards, and it did'nt feel super smooth through the window
it accelerated and got shot out the other side.>(was'nt the best wind>17-30kt)
wainman 2Gen. look nice Narrower L.E.> faster(?)

time to go back to a true c?I learned on em',when that's all there was,i took my licks.
If you ride places that get gusty and up & down,
it's nice to have the DE-power and added wind range.

I am a all-around free-ride kiter,surf,wake-style,old school boosts,cruzin'
i ride a 5'10 thruster,a 5'8 fish,a couple twins,a wake-skate,and i snowkite.
And i want one kite that does it all,and does it well.
thankx for any imput!

Park has a pulley on the front bridle. What is the hangup the front pulley? Makes the kite very smooth. I'd be interested in experimenting taking it off, but I have not felt that need yet.

On the one pump system. I recently changed a bladder, it took same amount of time as any other bladder. It was that easy. You have to seat the bladder internally anyways, so pushing it in was pretty much the same job give 1-2 mins. Not sure if you've seen the zipper is oriented across the bladder, which makes it incredible easy to access.

I definitively second the Naish Park as the perfect kite for you. Its neither a Delta, nor a C, has pullies, and is one pump. (not affiliated in any way)

Although I do not agree I can understand the reasons why you don't want a One pump system on your kite, but why are you so against pulleys ?
There are some kites on your list that are perfect allrounders.

I have been on Wainman's now for about 5 years and not really missed one pump kites at all, it probbaly takes another 30 seconds to inflate but I think the security aspect of a NON one pump kite is a benefit, you can certailey get those struts stiff !!!!!!

"..........is one-pump necessary?"
No, but neither is kiting really. Both are nice though.

I hope to go snowkiting today for the first time this season.
Whenever it is ripping and frigid, I like the one pump a lot.

Most one pumps can be converted to individual bladders. Try it.

One pump should be eliminated! It is a safety hazard if you lose any strut or air you lose the kite. If its in in deep water now you have lost extra floatation and have to fight swimming back with a water filled sail. I'm anti one pump!

I'm generally anti-one pump. Especially with the new membrane valves that work flawlessly every time on the struts. The old stopper balls on the waroos never worked so the smaller struts took a lot of skill to get inflated. Also I usually fly kahoonas with only 4 struts.

However, my Dyno 18m has 7 struts and is not one pump. That is a pain... No one pump reduces weight I guess, but it takes me a half hour to pump that thing up, haha. The price of kiting in 7 knots I suppose...

I agree no need for one pump,on three strut kite,it just makes it a plummers night mare when somthing goes wrong ,plus you have the advantage of pumping struts harder, and it way lighter, north uses this system on the dyno,so it a better light wind kite, lighter the kite better it floats, TONY
