They are at it again - we need your help to prevent ban

Postby decay » Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:20 pm

Hi Guys,

Our same two bird nut loving nut jobs are at it AGAIN, this time they have convinced the local council that because we can operate in estuaries and operate at more than 5 knots we are a danger to swimmers. In the past 12 years there have been only 13 complaints to our Harbour Master about the operation of kiters, 11 of those have been from these two people. NOT ONE of these 13 complaints have ever been upheld as a public safety concern. There has never been a incident of a kiter running into a swimmer or member of the public in those 12 years. Yet 'concerns for swimmers safety' is all the justification the NRC thinks they need to kill off all the flat water riding in our whole region? 95% of all of our flat water kiting takes place in conditions to cold and windy for anyone to swim - this is New Zealand we are talking about.

Anyway guys, we have 1 week to get submissions in, PLEASE jump onto this site:

www.kiteboarding.org.nz

Read the details, download the submission form on the 'why submit' link, fill in your details/comments and email to mailroom@nrc.govt.nz

Cheers,

Dave Kay

And just to motivate you all a little more, have a read of this:

This is one of the two serial complainers mentioned above.

Hard to believe one or two nutters can cause so much drama. One of them was acting strangely on the beach, when a kiteboarder came off the water to check on her, she started hitting him with a stick.

Pretty obvious who needs to be banned.

Not in this case Toby, the NRC will simply ignore a petition - a correct submission from a person is the only way to help here.

I have pre-filled in a form here:

http://tinyurl.com/nrc-mission

All anyone needs to do is click the above link, fill in there details and email the completed form to mailroom@nrc.govt.nz

The wording of the pre-filled in form can also be changed to better reflect the submitters own words if required.

Cheers,

DK

YES!

Yes it will Joe, New Zealand relies on tourists, tourism is our second largest industry. It would be great to tell the council that if this ban gets put in place you would no longer consider our region a suitable place to travel to kite. Its as valid an argument as any other, and the more submissions we get in the more we drown out the 2 people trying to push this ban thru.

Cheers,

DK
