Best boards for boots? - Cab Custom vs Best Profanity

Postby Kitemare123 » Thu Apr 19, 2012 6:51 pm

So im thinking of buying a board to ride with boots and I can get either a best profanity 142 2011 or a Cabrinha custom 140 2012 at good price.

I have tried both boards but only for a couple of minutes...not long enough to make up my mind, but I liked them both.

I will be using the boards for kiting, 99% of the time without sliders or kickers, so not too bothered about how they do for that. Occasionally I will use it for wakeboarding.

Which one has more rocker? Any recommendations?

Thanks!

don't know about 2012 models but the 2011 both had huge rocker 5.5 - 6 cm. Profanity had a bit morethat costom if my memory serves me well. You should search kite s.c.o.o.p. Some people there ride thise boards.

I bought the cab custom because I couldn't find a board with more rocker. I didn't try the profanity or the Harlow wake, so I can't confirm that. I really love the board. It is AMAZING in choppy water and the rocker keeps the tip from getting caught. It's so comfortable to ride.

I've just recieved a pair of liquid force vantage boots that I ordered and that is my first boots on a kiteboard.

Andre Philippe has been riding the board for years and look at his riding. If its good enough for him and his style, it's more than good enough for me!

I don't like the custom very much. I've owned the '09 and '10 in the 144 size and neither went upwind particularly well.

However, the Slingshot Mayhem is an AMAZING boots boards board. It SCREAMS upwind with boots, does not face splash to bad in chop and is rideable in the chop. You have to be powered to get get good pop otherwise its a little weak in the pop deparment (more then the custom less then a lunacy) but when your well powered it pops very close to the Lunacy.

I put '11 LF Synergy boots on it. Couldn't be happy - so far its the best boot board I've ridden.

I own a Custom 2011. Really great board, I always ride it finless and have no problems in staying upwind. Just don't edge too much and keep good speed so that the kite stays powered.

Powered landings are just so soft it is really amazing.

Can't go wrong with that board.

The steeze doesn't have the same amount of rocker as the custom. I checked in the shop. Infact it had similar rocker to every other freeride board, so I don't know why they call is a wake style board?

im going out on the 2010 profanity tomorrow
i had trouble going upwind on it the last time i went out on it 6 months ago
but i just widened the stance on it which helped out with the upwindyness on another board so im hoping it works well
i'll let you know how it goes if you want

good session today
having the boots in the widest stance possible definitely made a difference
never ridden the cab but the profanity was nice and soft through the chop and on the landings
first session in a while where my ankle doesnt hurt
oli sweeney from worthing who rides for BEST rides the 2011 profanity
track him down on here or one of the other forums and ask him about it if you want
