Thanks for the feedback Mike.
I will try to test NEO against EVO.
Maybe a combo of both will be a good choice, NEO 9m for light and steady winds and EVO 7m
for strong and gusty winds.

Hey Vasco, im riding Evos '12 in 8 and 6... They turn much better than 11 and drift forward all the time in the turn... They dont stop in the turn like '11's and sudenly goes forward pulling you out... The radius of turning is a bit bigger in the '12's model (more open) smoother pulling all the time... Softer in the bar, but still grunty... People hold a 12 of other brands and i can be overpower on the 9... At 83kgs and stapless xsurf board... Thats why the 8.... The 8 and the 6 you can hold them much more....
I ordered a Neo 10and 7 for the school cause Oru came back from Cabo Verde really excited with the performance.... Apparently wavesurfers will love it.... Let see!
If you need to change your kite now... Def 8 and 6 evos.... You will be happy surprised with the 8 low end performance!... And you know you are welcome to come to surfcenterartevida in Tarifa and try it for free!
Will keep you updated with the Neo
Good wind!

Hi Hector

Thanks for the feedback.
Nice to know that Evo 12 still has the power to keep the kite size down, that's my main concern
about Neo and also stability.
Please keep us updated about Neo.

Hi guys,

I am digging up the post to know your feedback after you bought those kites?
Are you happy with your final choices 9m NEO 2012 + 7m Evo 2012?

I was actually thinking about doing the opposite choice : 9m evo + 7m Neo because:

I tried the Neo 7m and it has a massive top end
I didnt tried the 9m evo but everyone saying this kite has a great low end...but its a bit grunty when the winds picks up.. is it true?

Actually I m searching what would be the best for me:
9m evo +7m neo => is 9m evo not too short for planning in light winds, isn't it too grunty for riding waves? is it a good choice to have a quiver of 2 different kites?
or
10m neo + 7m neo => i m scared to be upset with the low end of the neo in 10m cause i don't think it's powerfull enough for a 10m...

or maybe evo 9m + evo 6m??

For info: I'm 70kgs, ride TT and surfboard in the north of france

Thank you in advance for all your advices, feedback, etc.

Good wind!
Jacques.

I have had 2011 neo’s and now been on the 2012 since I think march a 9M+7M 95% waves
Cross + cross on to dead onshore conditions 1ft to overhead waves the Neo’s are the kite for the job .
Had a 9m 2011 evo nice kite can be a hand full in strong wind and slow comparing to the 2012 Neo’s.
What I like about the Neo 2012 it turns + fly’s a bit faster as far as low end go’s there is not much in it compared with the 9M 2011 evo.
The 2012 neo is very dynamic it reacts to the bar inputs well and the way it float’s downwind in cross shore winds can’t be beat
Because of the 3 struts = light weight if you get slack in your lines the kite parachutes’ nice and slow this gives you extra time to recover before the kite hits the water.
If your into waves and are after an easy kite to handle even if the wind picks up and is gusty a light responsive kite go the 2012 Neo it’s unreal.

Thanks for the feedback!!

I m still concern about the low end of this kite. Do you guys think a 10 m would be powerfull enough to jump and start in light wind? (maybe a Evo, a bandit or a rally would be better there?)

Im convinced the 7m is a killer in wave and gusty and strong wind... but i m not too sure about the same kite in his low end???Im afraid to have to move the kite a lote to generate speed...

Thanks so much for the guys taking the time to answer my questions!

A comment on the EVO..... It never stops pulling.
Which is only bad if you like to surf the wave, while you let the kite drift.
If your style is "always on" power, it is a very good kite.

Some wave friendly kites that depower to zero,
so you can ride back up the line, or sit in the pocket are:
SS Rally, Best Kahoona, LF Envy.

Maybe the NEO will too?

Thanks windyway for this comment..
Indeed I don't like a kite that never stop pulling... you always have to worry about the kite in that case...

What do you think about the SS Rally 2012? is it a good kite?

Hi all

I haven’t decided yet what to do, I’m waiting for a demo.
Anyone has more feedback to give us?
My concern is also stability, Guincho is a really gusty spot, I came from Evos and really enjoy them.
What I don’t like so much in my Evos is the high end (hard pull and steering when depowered).

Good waves

Wind around 25 knots sideshore, waves 2meter ,a friend forced to try neo 7m 2012.
after 5 minutes I left on the beach inflated rebel 6 and had 2 hours with no effort ,speed and fun.
found neo close at previous vegas, slow speed much more heavier less power that means we have to compare kite with similar power so when a gust heats a 7 neo and a 6 rebel ,the neo keeps it and rebel eats it and goes forward.
neo vegas and similar needs more strenght to keep them while rebel goes alone forward and get you upwind much easier ,less time,it means I can play on the waves as long as possible I have super train bringing me back to starting point.
of course I tried neo only few minutes but this time of year I have hours with rebels and felt difference immediatly.
two years ago with vegas I was talking the same ,safer, steady, easy, ultra turning speed, never falling etc, hated rebel 2010 ,tried again 2011, went back to them last year and now,of course they need more attention and not so good with wind onshore but they are another world!!!!!!!!
Rebel 5 6 8 wam 5.8 75 kg no school no shops yust fun medium expert
good wind to all!!!!
