Kevlar palm waterski gloves. I put a hand down during my first lesson four years ago and sliced it open on an oyster. Bought gloves and am collecting no more scars.

Maybe it is not the bar, but you that has to get used to it ?

Meaning, some bars ARE horrible in this respect, I agree - but if you have ridden for years with one type of bar, and suddenly change to a new one, your hands are not accommodated as this will take some time to get used to and develop the right "touch" and skin.

So it might go away over time (and it might not) 8)

i'm guessing it's a new foam or glue that China may be using in the factories. Had the same thing happen with my new OR bar, but it stopped after about 8 hours of riding. The micro edges on foam must've "softened up" or something.

For all the people saying to toughen up, did you at some point actually get blisters on your hands from kiting and develop callouses, or are you making statements based on thought experiments?

I like the Dakine windsurfing gloves and I use the waterproof first aid tape for cuts on fingers or toes.

Yes. Suck it up and ride through it. Your hand WILL toughen up. Personally a bit of dry blood under my callouses is a sign of a good month of fun.
