Post subject: Re: Best time to ride Hawaii Maui?
Unread postPosted: Sat Oct 31, 2009 1:59 pm
Best wind months: June, July, August (take 7-9-12)
Second best wind months: April, May, September, October (take 9-12-14+)
Did a search and found the above post. Is this still the case. 175lb/79k is there any need to bring 14m?
thanks

Maui, no 14m maybe no 12m too ( i'm not taking one)
I'm in Hawaii 23rd July - 2 aug scored super cheap flight... anyone keen on a downwinder if i end up in Maui (most likely, but in a kauai, oahu dilemma right now - a good one to be in!) let me know. surfboards sups kiteboards kites - huuuge dilema -pain in ass carrying all that crap around...but sat on beach without right tool for job - very depressing..

I am in Oahu right now and have been keeping an eye on Maui also. It is quiet winds across the island s right now but suggest a 7, 8,9 will be the go.

Maui will generally have much stronger wind due to the Venturi effect between the two volcanic peaks. 7's and 9's are the go, however I was there in May and took my 12 and used it a couple of times. I weight 80 tacos and ride a surfboard. Looking at the forecast now and wish I was there!

I've been 4 times in august, I rode quite everyday with my 7 and a tt. Maybe carrying also a 9 would be a good idea.
