I agree with the designs of the airplane models, However, keeping in mind that water is heavy and denser than air, the foil underwater will not react as fast. To create a foil like that to with stand jumping and landing impacts, you will need a lot of carbon and extensive testing. The bottom line, it is not freestyle friendly. Straight and to the buoy race marker, yes. ok.

I'm bringing the Spotz into the US. We will have a HUGE amount of Spotz in the SF bay very soon.

i wonder how all the strange configurations - canards, frw swept wings, etc. - to reduced induced drag but dropped in aviation due to structural or stability or whatever would work on a kite foil

Why do you say the Spotz is much faster? Am I missing some info from somewhere?

Here are the results of the 2012 kite hydrofoil world cup (first one ever held):
http://www.kiterace.fr/uploads/Result%2 ... 012Men.pdf

First and second place were Taaroa. I do not know what boards everyone else was riding, and I think a lot of race foil have only come out after that event was held. It is hard to tell which foils are fastest today, but back then it seems like Taaroa had the best combination of speed and control-ability (or maybe just best riders?) to take top two places out of a lot of riders.

It is sorry the 2013 world cup did not take place. I planned to go. It would have been in Dubai round about now. I'll have to save up for the 2014 one. But I also want to upgrade my foil, and that will be quite expensive.

It is hard to judge how good each brand of foil is. I wish there was an objective way of knowing which foil to choose for the type of riding you want to do. I am looking for a faster foil, but not for better upwind, but for better control when going fast down the line on big waves/swell. I think I need a foil which is not too high aspect ratio, but has very clean lines (low drag) and is controllable at high speed.

I believe Peter Frank say this based on the results from the french championship, red bull coast2coast and defi kite, where spotz was on the top of the podium at all events. But if it was because of brand, rider or custom wings is hard to say. But no doubt that these two brands are really interesting to follow in the racing scene, as they both have a great product and great athletes.

What max gps speeds you have ever reached on a foil please?
5s, 10s, 500m.
I believe this is real factor to compare different foils in the same conditions with exchanging riders riding the same kites - to eliminate all side factors.
The competition is not the best indicator. Sir Heineken might use TT to win anything
