Why can't we find the gear PRICES on hydrofoil companies websites?
I believe this is the exact message they are sending. It's like they feel guilty...svetliy wrote:Too expensive to advertise:)
Well said Peter, one of your best posts ever.Peter_Frank wrote:Prices are really high
But so is "delivery time", because of the extreme demands now.
Which normally regulates the price to the "upper level", but not only because of that - also because of the small volume.
On the other hand, one could also compare with a wave or freestyle windsurf board, as they (board ALONE) are priced at exactly the same, if you want a good one
So the price itself is understandable.
BUT, there are two tricky parts in this game:
1. Compared to a windsurf board/rig or other similar items, we are very much at risk because we can hit a rock or similar, at the bottom - thus the "small fortune" can get lost or damaged to "uselessness" (I know it is not a correct word, but somehow it makes sense to just say/write it...) before you can blink with your eye...
2. Almost noone has the option to try a foil, before he/she buys one.
Because there are few, and those who got one are thinking about above #1 often, so of course not willing to lend out to everyone.
AND, even if you could try one, it would be a waste of time - because it is so difficult and takes time to master - so you will not get ANY useful "trial" experiences whatsoever.
These are the reasons why only a few buys a foil IMO, to these prices.
If #1 and 2 did not exist, the price itself would not be a major problem, as we use way more money on other things anyways....
But because of above, the price makes most "hesitate" and NOT buy one.
There is an opposing "drift" though - as everybody who sees us foiling, says "I want one"
NOT knowing that it is not as steep a learning curve as kitesurfing (which is one of the easiest sports IMO, where you can go from zero to hero in absolutely no time)
So this balances the resist to buy out, and more and more will get a foilboard from now on I think.
Luckily they dont know how hard it is to master And will get a bit of a surprise for starters
On the other hand - WHEN you master it, it is AWESOME, and endless options to learn new things, as one can clearly see by watching any video with Marc Blanc

If you ask the price, it means it's too expensive for you.diogovilla wrote:Why can't we find the gear PRICES on hydrofoil companies websites?
