PKRA Pingtan - What The Shame!

Postby BraCuru » Wed Oct 29, 2014 6:18 pm

First of all - big, big UP for Mr.Tack. Congratulations from your Polish fans :remybussi:

It's a pity his victory was overshadowed by a scandal in the women division.
Karolina was second at the singles. Gisela won it. Great and fair.
Doubles - Karolina won the first final.
She needs to win it again to take first place and secure her title of women World Champ 2014
She lost second final. Tough life - the event is over - this is sport.
However she had some doubts about the verdict.
She asked to verify the scores. All judges omitted one her trick out of 5. Mistakes happen.
Decision - rerun the second final next day. Good decision.
Next day - the women final postponed to the next and final PKRA event due to injury of her opponent.
If that unwise decision is not postponed then we will have a very dangerous precedent for future.
Never heard about such a case. Did you?

BTW read both girls:

I am quoting an official note sent to PKRA management & riders committee:
Dear Sirs,

The Polish Kiteboarding Association protests against a postponing of the Pingtan women final to the next PKRA event. This is an unheard precedent in long kiteboarding history. Our members remain in shock and disbelief. They never heard about such unfair decision in such a simple situation. A rider who is not present or cannot compete from any reason loses her/his heat. Karolina Winkowska was unfairly harmed twice by your judges / director and deprived of the chance to secure the World Championship title at that event.
The postponing decision is dangerous to the sport and are opposite to the high standards of PKRA. So far the PKRA was endorsed by professional riders and judges and industry experts who hold the highest esteem. The Pingtan’s decision is a precedent changing your reputation.
We hope PKRA jury will reconsider their unfair decision and award a win to Karolina Winkowska. We are addressing this sad issue to the PKRA riders’ committee and The International Kiteboarding Association as well.
President of the Polish Kiteboarding Association
Łukasz Ceran

A major manufactuter just bought part of the PKRA tour this year. For marketing reasons, It would be of much interest to have their team riders win the title.
The men's dividision is already taken by Tack( LF ).

so Karolina girl was happy to win on Gisela absence?

things get sad when how you win does not matter anymore

wish a speedy recovery for those members of that kiteboard association that are still in shock

In my book both gisele and karolina are winners. they sure are competitive that's why there's so much drama. good luck to both of you.

Judging, has it ever been fair?

Specially when scores differ 0.5 etc ?

Personal taste plays a part of it. Is it height? power? style? personal?

I learned my lessons and ride for the spectators, the judges can do what they want ;-)

But for sure exciting story...let's see the outcome of this :o

What a shame ?
This is for me to go to the judges, after you loose and look for any a weak point.
To insist to be claimed winner because the oponent didn´t show up due to an injury.

I think to run the decision on the next event is wise, it should be fought out on the water and not on the paper. Good luck to Gisele

I'm pretty sure 90% of kiteboarders don't give a shit about which rich kid places where in whatever competition, scandal or not.
