What do you do in the waves that's no wave riding

Postby plummet » Thu Nov 27, 2014 10:41 pm

As the title suggests. There's lots of discussion about riding like a surfer on a surfboard down the line in waves.

I want to here from the blokes that aren't riding down the line on surfboards. What are you doing in the waves.

Whats your personal joy to shred the waves in a more kite inspired manner than a surf inspired way.

Waves and a twin tip, ride like a skate park, use waves as ramps for jumps, heel and toe side carving, sure beats riding in flat water!! As twin tips are so manoeuvrable you don't need clean sets and even choppy, mushy swell can be fun.

But to be fair for the last 10 years I've been riding at one of the UKs best at water spots so any amount of swell is a lot of fun for me :D

This for me as well. Surfing is really fun but kitesurfing never really did it for me, there's just too little control over where you're at on the wave when the kite is pulling you. Pretty fun to blast around on a twintip in the waves, though.

Getting air off a wave is somehow better than boosting with the kite, not sure why, it's kind of like hitting a small jump on a snowboard.

Because you don't waste energy edging before take off, just hit the ramp, send the kite and away you go!!

Like many have said jumping really really high off a wave is one joy ( strap surfb 4 me)

But more joy comes from timing a turn on a wave face at the last possible moment and dropping in

Combine that turn with tearing apart the top of the wave and sending the highest spray possible

The waves can be 2ft on my 19m2 in 10kn .......or 8ft on my 8m2 in 30kn

Happy Happy Joy Joy http://www.bitstorm.org/happyjoy/ren-n-stimpy.gif

Having feet in the straps and carving continuously the waves from toe to heel and heel to toe

Carve...spray...drop in.....carve... spray... drop in......can't never get enough of that great feeling :D

Non stop action supa smooth and ez

Another joy is watching surfers sitting waiting while i keep catching waves over and over and over

Yep. I like waving at the Surfers as I ride 3 waves to every one they ride. Woo Whoooo! Of course here in Fla. we really don't have TRUE waves from swell like CA or Hawaii
