shouldn't a twin tip hydro-foil have a
foil that rights itself in the direction of travel
sort of automatically whirls around 180 degrees
by itself when the rider changes direction?

Getting closer. Need to cut the bolts on fuselage and drill holes in my twin tip.

I have no illusions that this will be a fast set up. There is a lot of drag and total is pretty heavy. This is just a project to learn with materials and to get better skills. Wonder whether it will work or sink to the bottom of the Raglan harbour. Waiting now for a nice day with steady light wind.

Today I.drilled holes in my twin tip and found that the skin is too soft and I will have to beef it up with fibre glass or carbon and perhaps make a wooden plate on the top of the board for strengthening. Luckily the weather is not good at the moment. Perhaps maiden voyage on the 31st.

Tried the twin tip foil in the weekend. very gusty light wind in shallow water made it virtually impossible to get a ride. I made some foot hooks but one snapped the first time I hit the ground. Gave up because wind was not consistent. Will try first time to ride board on water without lifting with loose fitting foot straps.

Hi Wil

I see you got the 2010 North (free) Race ?

I am thinking about mounting a connection plate/reinforcement on mine, as I think it could be awesome as a true light wind hydrofoil board.

It is really light, and planes up early with its shape, and volume so you can ride non-foiling too.

Of course one can say it is a shame, as I've used this board a lot for light wind jumping and freestyle and long distance trips an so on, and got lots of extra special light wind fins and seaweed fins.
BUT, I've never ever used this board, not even once, since I started hydrofoiling :naughty:

A bit long maybe, but before I cut it I think I'll try modifying.

I know Christoff has used this board for his HF's long time ago (dont know how it worked), but as he rides in huge swell, it can not be compared to light wind on more flat water.

Sorry, this was off topic as a directional (but I love those), just saw you had one.

8) PF
