Axis Race Foilboard

Hi Everyone,

I am proud to introduce you to the 2015 Axis Race Foilboard. Shaped by Adrian Roper with some input by me.





Here is the info on the board.

Size:

It's dimensions are 155cm x 55cm x 7cm.

Bevel:

The bevel goes all the way around the tail to facilitate a clean takeoff from the water and prevents sticking when touching down.



W- Concave Deck:

What I really love is the shallow W-Concave on the deck. This is something I have had on all the foil boards I have made for myself. I got this from Downhill Longboards and has following advantages.

The deck fits your foot. This means you have much more traction under your foot than a flat deck, so you do not have to have your straps so tight and also means far greater control if you want to use it strapless or without the back footstep. This also makes it great for beginners and free riders.

Boxes



Axis will give you the choice of which box you want (Probox, US, Tuttle). All the boards we (Magma) ordered are with the US Box track system set at 90mm apart. This will fit most Foil brands nowadays. (LF, Levitaz, Magma, Sword 1 etc) It also allows you to tune the position of the foil on the board, which is great as most foils will have different Centers of Lift and will need a slightly different position.

Deckpad


I know the trend is going towards no pads, but I used to do that, and got sick of tearing my skin out on the no-slip during crashes and body dragging. I find it a lot more comfortable with the pad.

Construction:

These boards are built to last: Closed Cell Core, Double-Stringers (Wood), PVC/Carbon Sandwich. Even if you punch a hole in the board it will not suck water as the closed cell foam will not absord water. The board is nice and stiff.

I really like the way you present equipment to masses.

It looks that 155-160x55x7-8cm, a wide nose, a narrow tail might be the standard for racers/light wind riders in coming years.

Your front staps are pretty close to each other.
What is a distance between their inside inserts? 6cm?
Did you try a wider position ? Let's say 10-12cm?

I tried a deep double concave in my boards last autumn and winter - highly recommended.
Did not expected such improvement
Are you going to try it as well?

What is the price and weight please?

Hi Dude,

Yes. I have tried wider positions for the front straps. I find it is easier the closer you get to the center line of the board with your feet to do the foiling manoeuvres. There is less chance of accidentally rolling the board and crashing.

They are at 40mm (Inside Inserts) apart on my board.

The board is 4.5kg and costs 1000 Euros.

Good news is we got a Spud and Mosses setup coming in so that should be fun to learn on....
