Hydrofoiling in the Outer Banks

Postby davesails7 » Sun Feb 22, 2015 9:04 pm

I was wondering if anyone has some good experience with where to go and not to go to foil in the Outer Banks. I saw Real is giving foil lessons now and Ian from Atlantic Kiteboarding had posted about his successful foiling trip down in Avon. Anyone else found some good deep spots to foil?

Before seeing Ian's post I was worried to try because the charts show lots of 1 foot deep areas mixed in with mostly 3 foot deep areas http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/11555.shtml

I had seen some people riding an MHL foil out of Kitty Hawk kites two years ago, but they had to walk way out (500 yards?). They said once they were out there they didn't hit any sandbars while foiling.
