We are planing a trip this upcoming Aug to one of this 2 destinations
We are still debiting where we can have more fun and more waves .
Mauritius - The wave kite is big over there but if there is no wind the waves looks quite mussy and not that big
Maldives - The waves looks amazing but the chance to get wind is low
I know this is the good troubles , that we always wish to have but we still need to solve this
in the bottom line we want good waves doesn't matter if its wind or not (we want to get the best of both world)
As far as I know mainly lefts (if you look from the wave to the beach) right (if you look from the beach to the wave) Wind mainly coming from the left (from the beach)
There are some other spots than Le Morne (South West) and on the other side of the island som great reef breaks as well
OK. For pure surfing holiday I would go to Maldives. You will have two to four spots available from any island you are staying at and much less hassles with crowds and unfriendly locals than in Mauritius.
If you want kitewaves then you will get your fill here too; )

It was in January this year:
Probably the best my holiday and really windy every day and night. 10 and 7m kites in use with foilboarding.
Don't know about wind in August over there.
Don't know about Mauritius.
I just got back from the Maldives and did Mauritius last year. They are two very different places. obviously Mauritius is kite dedicated. But Maldives pleased the girl with luxury while allowing me to kite. It was also some of the best diving we have every done.
