All DYNABAR resellers and customers should be informed that sliding system they sell or use desn't exist because in the RideEngine video the representative states that dyneema sliding system is "pretty new technology" and the ADV in the back states "PROBLEM SOLVED". They should have added "after years of design and tests".
The Kiteboarder magazine did a DYNABAR sliding system test in 2012 http://www.thekiteboarder.com/2012/03/r ... ynabar-v7/ and the product is in the market since 2008 (you can also notice how the curved ends are similar to the "new" RideEngine dyneema spreaderbar).
We officially warned Coleman Buckley 2 years ago when he was a small local company and started using this system on his carbon spreaderbar (he was also reselling DYNABAR) but looks like he doesn't care to use our intellectual property and his join-venture with 7 Nations made him even more aggressive. Few days ago we informed 7 Nations about this issue.
For sure we will do everything possible to protect our work of years and our credibility towards our resellers and customers
For sure Ride Engine is just re-using an idea that already existed... and they should not claim they invented hot water. But let's give them one thing: they turned it into something that looks simple, clean and functional and combined with their hard shell harness, it makes total sense.
I never got into sliding bar because all the systems on the market looked over-engineered including the photo above. But I might jump on this one.
You are complaining about content provided for all to see online for free? Have to pay the bills, it is far from easy in print publishing these days. Why not brainstorm on how to help support the sole remaining print kiting magazine in existence based in the USA. I think the country is big enough to have such a magazine and needs one but without our support, then what? This magazine did a lot of innovative online distribution, largely for free, before any other kiting mag's . Things like pdf issue copies through readers, podcast, videos, etc., many years back. If your favorite brand isn't in there why not ask them why they aren't supporting the remaining prominent mag. for kiters in this country? Mags. did important work to get things going in kiting and this publication in particular worked to promote sustainable kiting, women in the sport and at times not real lucrative topics just because they needed to be put out there over the years. We owe them for that, like it or not.
