Hi everyone,
I've got 10 days in Sarasota in December 14-24. I've checked all the website for the correct spot and the average wind. Apparently the average wind is from the East.
I guess the Skyway bridge is a good spot? But enough water for foiling?
Is it allowed to kite at the north of Anna Maria, bean point? (if Easterly wind) Any other spots recommended?
I've got this website
http://kiteboardingtampabay.com/sarasota-area.html but I don't know if any of those spots are good for foiling...
I don't want to take my gear all away from Europe if it's not good for Foil in the area...
Thank you very much for your help and I hope I see one of you there next month!

Just attended the Florida foil race at the skyway last weekend, and it was a great place for foiling. It's a bit of a long body drag to get out past the shallow area, but once you're out its all deep. The water seems to stay fairly flat even when the wind picks up (compared to my home spot at least).
I'm guessing if there is wind, someone local will be there and can direct you where to drag to reach deep water.

At the sky way, you want to walk all the way to the north end of the beach and foil out there since it is deep. You need to go out to the bridge and start working your way south and east since there is a substantial sandbar. Tierra Verde is another good place.

Look up Aaron from Hooked On Kiteboarding on FB, he runs a shop and lessons from the skyway and can do foiling tours if the wind is right or just point you in the right direction based on conditions. Great guy, really friendly and helpful, and he also runs a repair business if your gear breaks down.
