Why not just find some waves and ride them?

No.

1. If you dont live close to waves, not an option.
2. Also, if not that much experience in waves, learning from each other and especially experienced riders, is the way to go

3. Last but not least, riding alone SUCKS, no matter how good the waves are, and sharing experiences and pictures/video and discussiong gear maybe, after a waveday is often THE most rewarding and awesome experience as you get both then - so being many out on or at a wavespot, and even better if 1 and/or 2 is valid, a wavecamp - is just awesome

Wavecamps are often a mix between really experienced good riders, and some who wants to be better, and a few for whom it is a new world

We have to agree that learning with experienced riders is very important to make the transition from twin tip to directional a fun experience. So having said that it then makes perfect sense to look for a wave camp that caters for your needs. In Cape Town, (South Africa) the KITEKAHUNAS Wave Camps have the advantage of learning on ashorter downwind passages of 6 km to longer ones up to 20 km of uninterrupted bliss. http://www.exotikite.com has a great wave camp in spring in Baja. Great crew, excellent instruction, sand beaches so no fear of getting raked over reefs, no crowds, incredible food, & they do a womens specific camp for a week. Not an intense break & if you want to ride rights this is a great place to get it dialed. Water is chilly so wetsuit required but the air is warm & sunny. Chunky's - best meal of my life. Its not 4-star resorty and all night party place but if wave riding rights with a great bunch of people & instructors is what you seek this is a great option.

I have no ties to them or reason for giving them such props other than I went there & was really impressed.
