which ozone reo V3 set???

Postby mattenzuchtig » Sat Apr 09, 2016 9:32 am

ozone Reo ranges...
I am a bit comfused about the ranges on the V3 Reo kites,
I am used to get on board in lighter winds with my actual 9m kite around 13/14 knts...it looks like the Reo is only starting at 17knts ( all with directional?)
then if you look at the sizes 7 and 5 there seems not a lot of difference they overlap a lot.

I al looking at a range of ReoV3 kites but the sizes and windgraph and fields they cover are a bit comfusing for me.
My actual kites I fly on 20m lines, just change board ( from airush cypher 5'8 to Airush comapct 5'5) if wind picks up
I fly my set without pulling any depower:
9m from 13/14 knts till max 20/21
7m from 19knts till 25/26
5m from 27/28 knts till 35 knts withmeasured gustst till 40knts...without pulling the depower all on 20m lines...
( BTW I still have a 13m that covers the lightwind up to 15knts ( can be more but not that much fun)

now I am struggling in picking the right range for my 80kg , i would still prefere a 9 7 5 m set...but...

I am 75kgs and ride surfboards, strapped when crazy gusty or big, unstrapped when clean. I ride with 22m lines usually with all sizes so with longer lines you might go lower. With the Reo's I have ridden the 10, 8, & 6. I can get going in the 10 at 14-15, on the 8 at 18-19 & on the 6 at 26-27 but there needs to be really good waves or 2-3 more knots to be fun. Plenty of top end and I almost never touch the depower but I have a long throw setup. And for what it is worth they jump and go upwind good for a wave kite but they are still wave kites so take that into account.

I'm the Australian importer/distributor for Ozone.
Ok thats out of the way. I live in a coastal location and only ride surfboards, mostly strapped, in waves. Just received my 2017 V4 reo's and I went for 6/8/10/12 this year. Last year, V3, I had 7/8/9/10/12 (was trying to go with 7/9/12, but a team rider changed to Enduro and I got his 8/10)
I fly on 25M lines and have 2 main boards a firewire vanguard 5'3" and an Axis 5'7" Inegra proto. Vanguard is smaller surf and the Axis in shoulder high and above. I weigh 80kg wet.
The 12M I can go out and ride waves and easily stay upwind 13/14 - 20/21 knots
10M 15/16 -22/23
9M 16/17 -24/25
8m 17/18 -26/28
7m 20/22 - 30-34

I use the Reo 2015 / V3 currently, only strapless with a Vader 5.3, I´m 75 kg, using Slingshot and LF bars with 23 m lines.
Ranges as follows:
10 m² from ~13 till 20/25 kts (fun from 15 ktn, 25 kts still possible, but with some effort)
7 m² from ~18 till 30 kts (this whole range is "sweet spot" almost, very good range!)
5 m² from ~25 till 35 kts (very good lowend, not so good highend)

My feeling is that the 10 m² might be exchanged by a 9 m² probably without any lowend restrictions. The 10 m² is a bit slow, but still OK and you get used to it.
The 5 m² is slightly limited in highend, from my point of view. The RRD Religion in 5 goes up higher without effort.
If you go out in constant 30+ kts I´d buy the 5 and 4 m². Or a 5 m² only from another brand...
