About to buy new glasses for kiting...any recommendations

about sea specs and floating, if the water is not very salty they do not float, that also means they come of to easy, otherwise I would not have know about there lack of floating

The retainer at the bottom, with Smith prescription lenses. I'm on new sunglasses as my old ones are too scratched up from getting sandblasted, but I used the old ones for 2 years and never lost them.

Those typhoon's above look pretty good too..I just need prescription lenses so I buy my sunglasses locally and fit a retainer to them.

Sea Specs.

Cheap, they work great, and I've never lost a pair. They've fallen off a very few times getting super rolled by waves, but they float, and I've always managed to find them again.

Did you even bother to read the OP? He is tired or loosing "cheap sunglasses" and doesn't look too goofy....

I'm tired of losing cheap sunglasses and they probably offer no protection. What do you all recommend? I want something that will stay on my head (backstrap), UVA/B, and doesn't look too goofy. i was thinking Kurtis brand.

There are many good glasses on the market.

Since many years I am using the Seaspecs. Works fine for me.

Just a tip:
get brown lenses...I had black ones and they make it harder to see the chop. Brown/yellow etc make it easier.
E.g. I use the "Sunset Specs" from Seaspecs, who have brown lenses.

Sea Specs are cheap, ~$25 is a pittance not to fry my eyes. I've never lost a pair. When half the guys on the beach are wearing them I think they qualify as "Not too goofy."

As far as goofy is concerned, everyone on the beach could be wearing them, they still look goofy.

$25 is not cheap, you can get cheap glasses for less than $5 but they will probably fry your eyes. Not an expert on lens but seaspecs has decent lens that do the job to protect eyes.
That being said fit isnt that great for my head, especially with hood or helmet on. I have lost a bunch of lens crashing hard and they do offer replacement lens. I have like 4 pairs, with a bunch of spare lenses. So I am pretty happy with seaspecs considering price.

Important is that the glasses have a big vision.
If the glasses are too narrow, your visibility is limited, and specially for kitesurfing you need a wide range up, down, left and right.
