Agree with you. I can do stuff in 3D and get them 3 D printed in Nylon and this part is pretty easy. ( been thinking of getting a FFF 3D printer for these kinds of projects.)
Where did you get the SS pin/ring thingy ? The metal parts are my limitation and dont have the tools.
I can see way to make integrated ball stopper and leash ring to fit above release and stop the bar. Would take away need to slice ring onto line.
Yeah I also don't have the facilities to DIY stainless parts. But luckily there is a hobiecat shop close by. I found the pin there. It's pretty much exactly the right size, I couldn't believe my luck

I know this is pretty rough, just threw it together with what i have atm - thoughts on using this release ? (i realize there is a good chance of getting something caught in there & might cut that section off - if the release itself is up to the task).
Now to start looking for a Cab mushroom release.

I have lots of questions about that set-up.
It might be a good idea to "lock the gate" on that snap shackle. It looks like the safety line could get caught at the lock or slip through the shackle at "jam" at the hole in the bar. Maybe you could slip a piece of surgical tubing over the "gate", like in the pictures.

Here is my implementation of BRM's solution:
- 2 x 32mm parrel beads, with the hole drilled out to 20mm;
- 2 x swaged eye terminal for a 3mm steel wire, serving as the release pin;
- 1 x 25mm stainless ring;
- 3mm white shock cord;
- 4mm dyneema (Amsteel in the US)
total material costs are approx 20 EUR
The green ball is push-away, and releases the kite on a single front line. Pulling the red ball disconnects everything.

I'm not finding swaged eye terminals that look like they are right for the job.
Would like to know sources (for USA) they are coming from if anybody is willing to clue me in.

@L0KI. I got mine at a local marine rope and rigging shop in Amsterdam the Netherlands, but in the USA it looks like Amazon would be an easy option:
https://www.amazon.com/Swage-Terminal-A ... e+terminal . You will have to trim the length a bit (at least I did), but then they should be fine.

ps_nl, that looks great - so nice to get rid of the extra safety connection.
I think I'll put my CL back on & look for those parts & get a lesson in splicing.
Those cab mushroom releases are as rare as hens teeth here in Oz.

Great effort mate. You know what? I am thinking of a design which includes this very function in one piece: an outer mushroom to be ejected forth is the main safety; once ejected forth, you reach an inner mushroom to eject completely. like those russian puppets, but keeping up the opposite directions of ejecting.
Or even eject both safeties outwards. Would have to try. The construction is really basic.

Nice work ps_nl.
What alamos describes sounds to me like the perfect setup. I tried to make a sketch of it. Either the pin has to be shortened a bit or the bell needs a larger diameter. With that fixed I can't think of any downsides to this design.
