Cape Town Great Whites

Postby Van Hunk » Wed Dec 14, 2016 9:13 am

A dude in a grey and white suit, large enough (4m) to be picked up by a webcam 200m away, cruising in waist high water in Big Bay Cape Town.

Rule 1 page 1 of King of the Air - Don't lose your board..

That would be an extreme tail grab, worth many points in my opinion.

KOTA will need a bigger boat !!!

Reminds me of the first Robben Island Enduro Race (back in the day) - I was racing along with Jason Furness - I was on an 8m and he was on at least a 10m and kept wiping out as he was well overpowered - at 2/3rds of the way to Robben Island, he had a huge wipeout, lost his board & I heard that he bodydragged the entire was back to Big Bay! Isn't that lure fishing !?

Good thing the sharkeys in CPT are so lazy, in SFO the shark would have been feasting.

I recall screwing up a trick and landing near a whitey in CPT in Jan 2016, shark barely even noticed me. Two of em, monsters both.

There are plenty sharks out here but they have not acquired a taste for kiters yet.

Cape Town has been real busy this December and I've had to resort to going out at night. Luckily I have never seen a shark in the dark :naughty:

Damn, Russian! Jason Furness is a name I haven't heard in forever. I remember when he was kiting on handles with that weird harness loop between them hooked onto the spreader hook of his harness. Whatever happened to him?

And back on topic, those waves look amazing, but not so much that I'd be interested in trying to share them with that big boy! :o
