Boogie board, for a cheep compact foil board?

What do you think of a boogie board as a cheap compact foil board?

Obviously you would glass it and put in the appropriate foot straps inserts and strengthen it for the foil plate.

One of our local riders uses a $40 wakeskate. It's basically plywood with some foam glued on and a couple of straps.

Tried the wakeskate. They work, but suffer from poor low end due to size and high rocker.

You'd probably want to pull the tail in a bit so that you don't catch every wave top going upwind.

Definitely cheap and easy blank to start with. Some shape, maybe stringers, properly mounted tracks. Nice glass job. Could be very nice.

What about a paulonia paipo blank? Not much more money, less work, they'll even cut for you...

Last weekend I tested out my LF foil with a LF wakeskate as the board. I had no issues with rocker and it felt amazing when I got up. Such a better experience then the foil fish board.

My issue: the thing hardly floats. In waves I'm sure it would get pulled down. How do I add floatation to the board. The mast is not sealed and water gets in. Should I try sealing the mast? Should I add some type of foam on the bottom or top of the board to get it to float better. I am going to spray paint the thing cause you can hardly see the black surface

How much wind was there? I bet you have a little tougher time waterstarting on a skate than a skim as wind gets lighter. Once up don't think there would be much difference.

I have a double thick full deck pad on mine and its just enough flotation. Board is oval 20"x 43" (50 cm x 110 cm)

I sealed the mast to help.
