FS Peak 3 12m2 for ultimate lightwind foiling?

Postby omg » Thu May 04, 2017 8:06 pm

Hi, I bumped into Kitefinder.com video on youtube on Peak 3 12 meter where a guy was foiling in 6knots. I know the kite doesn't relaunch, but I never drop the kite and also ride close to shore so it's not a deal killer.

Has anyone ridden Peak 3 12meter with a foil to give any feedback on it?

Mainly I am interested in how quickly the kite turns and if it has decent depower with foil? The kite is really light so should stay in the air very well, but I wonder how the kite behaves if there are any fluctuation in wind, like a small lull, ie. if the kite tip turns inside or otherwise kite loosing its shape?

Thanks! :jump:

how do you water start in 6 knots with a 12m? id imagine you would need a running start from the beach

Shouldn't be a problem, just pull from the front lines when the kite is directly downwind of you. Off she goes like other foil kites.

In 6 knots I had power enough to waterstart (91 kg)

Turning Speed & Depower won't be a problem OMG.
Relaunch, max.speed, upwind performance and lack of lift & boost makes this kite different than the high end performance foils.

OMG, did you read this thread, a year old ? viewtopic.php?f=196&t=2392479&p=928369& ... k2#p928369

Might interest you...

I am not in doubt myself, with the awesome no and onestrut superlight kites I have ridden, I have no reason to go for the Peak kites, unless I get a chance to try one and might be positively surprised.

But I still find it interesting as it might work great

So many advantages not having a double skin or tube, less weight, much easier to pack down and you are not in a hurry like with foil kites if it goes down, no punctures, takes up no space whatsoever.

I'm curious about Peak as well, though skeptical about its performance. The kite just does not look very efficient :o . However looks can be deceiving.
Flysurfer should make a hybrid, partial double skin to make it more suitable for water use. It would still be light and pack small - a good kite to carry for that marginal wind.

I thought that the peak was just a bag to go uphill with your snowskies and pack it dowm small.
Why you should buy instead of a normal kite if other reason exist?

Light, cheap & powerful! Best low end performance! 12m in 4/6 knots and half the price :thumb:

Nice depower. Small package. Sounds like washing on a line when depowered. Turns quickly enough. Upwind performance is rubbish. Personally id not go this route for the water.
