For me carving a hydrofoil is similar to riding burms on a bike. Lean into the direction you want to go. I don't think about the foil or the board or the bike for that matter it just becomes an extension of me. Its just practice on leaning and in the instance of the foil weighting appropriately.

The fast you go on the foil the better for stability much like a bike.

If you put straps on your board that will help you manhandle the foil in when there is cross currents and swell. But otherwise its all about balance and leaning for me. Don't over think it. Just ride!.
Second session I got better feel for it and can stay up on foil 30 seconds ;) was having less issue with roll. Roll got messed up only if my feet position were not centered.
Didn't really think about it and was able to aim downwind and upwind volontary, not really leaning into it though.

About speed it seems to make it less stable for me, because it increases pressure on feet so a small imbalance seems to give a big foil input. I keep kite way too low though, perhaps with kite higher it will lighten up foot pressure and foil will be stabler at high speed ;)

Have you only had two hydrofoil sessions? Then I think you just need hours and hours on the water, to get the feel, before you go all technical

Anyway I was just curious I guess with practice this comes together and no need to sweat the details.
yeah no need to sweat the details, people are getting so technical in this thread that it's just needlessly confusing. if you want something to practice to get more comfortable, you can do some carving in big S-shapes. itll help hone in your muscle memory and you'll eventually just be controlling the roll/yaw automatically when you want to turn, like on a bicycle.
