GoPro Hero 6

Postby POACHER » Thu Sep 28, 2017 7:28 pm

It just launched an hour ago.
Clone to the 5, just more 4k slow mo rates, new super duper processor, supposedly better image stabilization (still just digital, NON optical) and low light performance.

I'm really surprised GoPro hasn't come out with something better. Now no I haven't used it, nor will I probably ever, as I know digital stabilization isn't great. It may smooth out me walking on the sidewalk, but not me with a line mount riding heavy chop or flying down singletrack at high speed. I'm bummed.

Oh yeah.........it's now $499! ugh.

Hey Revl Arc if you are listening. This is your chance. GP in my eyes just laid an egg. No tangible upgrade from my Hero 4 Silver from 2+ years ago.(relevant features, size, price, fogproofing? ) 2 years is an eternity in the tech world. I hope your cam launches soon and is a hit.

They have added a follow mode for the Karma Drone. It is supposed to follow the gopro remote, so there is that.

The Arc is very nearly there according to the last update a few days ago. Should be shipping in the next few weeks. Seems like they've added in a lot of additional features while the production has been delayed. Looks like an awesome bit of kit. Can't wait until I get my hands on it.

cheers,

4K at 60 fps is big deal lol, my dslr can't do it.
I currently have hero 4 silver which can't do 4K at 30fps...
If you have a computer good enough for 4K editing worth upgrading...

I have the Hero 4 and wish I would have bought the 5. You can see a huge difference when you edit your videos and zoom in. The Hero 4 makes everything look pixelated when you zoom in, but still a great camera.

I love the go pro cameras. honestly they are the best action cameras out there right now as far as video quality is concerned. however they definitely needed to step their game up I'm not really satisfied with the new features of the 6 its missing a lot of things that their competetors already have like onscreen stats example , speed, g force direction and so on. I like the 4k60 but honestly 4k30 is pretty good. ill stick with the series 5. I don't see the use of paying an extra 100 dollars for the new features. Is gopro is going the way of the kite manufaturers as far as releasing a new series every year with 90% fud and 10% substance?

Best feature of the Hero 5 and 6 is the waterproofing with no case ... :D

I had a Hero 4 silver, it worked but i was so frustrated because of the fog on the lens after only 30-45 min... :angryfire:

Upgraded to the Hero 5, the software was very laggy and the camera was freezing when filming... a pain in the ass... :angryfire: I had to take out the battery to fix it. Not easy to do while kitesurfing. :x :angryfire:
Maybe an upgrade fixed that, unfortunately i lost the Hero 5 in the water

I am most interested in battery life. It should be 3h+ but I guess it is not.
