2018 Naish kites

Could someone tell me how much the 14m and 9m Pivots weigh? 2017 model is fine. I'm also curious if the Pivots generate any power while looping, for say, a dark-slide or jesus walk, or if per the reviews, they just pivot w/o generating much power. I've never flown one but am thinking if there's a lot of input on the bar, the kite will pivot, however if there's less input on the bar, the kite will loop slower and generate some power. Is that right?

Its great for dark slide IMO. I am assuming the 14 is fine for jesus walk.

Personally what I like is that you can control well how much it pulls. It will not pull as hard as the Torch when you really try to get power from it, but it has more than enough to do dark slide or long hand drag with rotations.
The good thing is also that even when it is much more powered you can loop it later and get a lot less power. Or even somewhat sheeted out.

I'll try to weight them later.

The balance between front tube and trailing edge is going to be different when the latter weighs less. So unless the front tube is lightrr as well, the centre of the kite will be in a different position compares to before. I assume that will have an impact on the drifting capabilities. We'll see when we get back user experiences!

Spot on, had the same experience! Great jump kite, but for waves and you want Naish ... go Slash!

I was referring to a possible difference between the '17&'18 Pivots Stefarius, theoretical too as I haven't flown the '18.

I'm 10kg less than you and like the '17 9m in those winds in waves, that size does drift.

Edit: so how about some more experience with the 2018 Naish kites!

I love my 2018 Dash kites. I have the 14 and 10m.
The kites boost and unhook really nicely for being allrounders. Definitely an improvement over the Park as the kite provides more feedback and feels a bit more solid. Moreover I can switch from my twintip to my foil when the wind gets light and they’ll stay flying, which I couldn’t always do with my old C kites.

I can't speak really specifically to difference. I have the new 11 and it rocks (I rode the old 11 about 8 months ago). I've used it a few times in waves and jumping on a directional. The wind was varying a lot and the wind on shore to side on.

I've been riding the 2015 Pivot 7.9 and 12 for three seasons now and think it's perfect and does not understand how it can be even better. I have ordered 2018 Pivot 9, 12 for freeriding and foiling. Have also ordered a Slash 7a for strapless waveriding and is very curious if there is a big difference between Pivot 7 and Slash 7 in waveriding

They are amazing kites, but like to be ridden powered up, so I wouldn't say that the Dash is good for foil-winds. My 10 hindenburgs when not babysitted at 12 in light winds while foiling. 13-15 knots on the foil is sweet though, but don't drop it in deep water because relaunch in those winds can be tricky... Apart from that, sick kites indeed.

I have ridden all years of the Pivot and I am on the 2018 now. Similar set up to you: 8/11 Pivot and 5/7 Slash (both 2018). For 2017 I had a 6m Pivot and 7m Slash but rode the Slash only a few times. Both kites pretty much overlapped in their windrange. I think that is one difference, that the Pivot is somewhat more powerful, as it has a more open arc. I believe that the Slash turns quicker in the same size and it feels a bit more "relaxed" so you can focus on your waveriding. Jumping the Pivot is better (I ride strapped) but Slash was not bad. I will try out the Slash this time a lot more to see if it is good with a TT on high winds as well.

I did not feel huge differences between the different years of the Pivot but I never rode them side by side, so it is hard to tell. Anyway, the 2018 is great, rode my 8m now really powered up with TT and in mid to lower winds with SB. Really versatile. You can also nicely tune it by using the 24m or the 20m bar.

I didn't see much difference between '15&'16 Pivots but the '17 I just got is quite different. It's smoother and has a bigger windrange. I wasn't considering changing my 7m '16 but after the experiences with the '17 9m I am seriously contemplating just that. Of course imho ymmv etc.
