"Mike suggested Buck design a single strut foil for his stand ups, and Buck came through. It was the world’s first single strut hydrofoil for water skiing" ... air-chair/
"Mike rides the single strut kneeboard hydrofoil. (Khoury, 1985)"
" the huge assembly with a sharp strut and wings"
" He mounted it onto a double strut foil"
"and use the single strut foil he developed"
"was also considering the single strut foil"
" Bob put together the first single ski, single strut, sit down hydrofoil."

Interesting to note the word mat, mast appears NOWHERE!
And believe me, them calling it ANYTHING other than a STRUT was NEVER even considered!

IMHO difficult to find a first one man foiling vehicle with one or two ... or other foil constructions,
as there has been foils from the beginning of the last century so more than 100 years of history.

Wikipedia (Ing. Enrico Forlanini, 1910)

But the following could be the first kite powered foil ever:
(sorry for quality will digitise the VHS video some day)

Video has copyright from 1996 showing kiteski system and also a guy riding an early airchair foil with it.
So you could say the first form of riding a kite foil was sitting and if you want one of the first forms of kiting was foiling ... :D

Therefore modern kitefoilers are heretics and should be burnt at the stake!
